SPIRE-EIT was a 10-week research experiences for undergraduates program that combined classroom training with hands-on research projects. Iowa State University‘s Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) program were the hosts for this program. The REU undergrads formed research teams led by HCI faculty and Iowa State University graduate students. Over the course of the summer the REU undergrads created new technological solutions to challenges in human computer interaction. Students toured many local attractions and participated in a variety of group social activities that gave them a better understanding of life in Iowa.
