Yesterday was quite enjoyable overall. I enjoyed the luncheon lecture, and made some progress with my research project. I was able to speak to both of my graduate students, whose input will hopefully assist us in the future. Further progress with COMSOL, the microfluidics simulation software, will be delayed until we can talk to someone with more experience. We have asked at least four different people who seemed to have history with the program, but none of them actually know how to set up COMSOL, only interpret its results.
Now we are waiting to be put in contact with someone who does know how to use COMSOL. Not to say we haven’t tried however. The person we are trying to contact made a tutorial for REU students and we have tried working through it. Despite following along step by step however, one operation seems to be failing and thus we cannot make any shapes. On a positive note, if we do learn COMSOL, we will become a valuable resource for the team, which is a pleasant thought.
Unfortunately, the Jive band did not play Jive music. I was so ready to dance, but it’s difficult to Charleston to classical music played only on brass instruments. Maybe one day I’ll get to dance again.
We hope you’ll tune in next time,
