I’m quite glad I was able to meet with Eric, my graduate mentor, today. Although my group still has not received approval for training, and thus are unable to do work in the lab, Eric gave us a few articles about biosensors to begin our learning. I have learned that scientists use long words. I will admit my etymology background only got me so far, and that I had to look up many words in hopes of understanding what was going on.
Additionally, we had a rather pleasant talk with a professor here today about bio-fuels. I do not have many specific complements, but rather an overall feeling of goodness.
That may be, in part, due to my lack of sleep recently (not staying up too late but waking up too early). Furthermore, it would seem that the air conditioners in the center are either partially or completely off, making it a little toasty in here. As I write this, someone has come in to tell us that the air handlers are not working!
I am reminded of a scene in The Muppets Christmas Carol where many Scrooge’s workers (played by Muppet rats) complain about the cold, and when confronted by the mean man himself, suddenly dress in island paradise clothing and sing “Heat wave!! This is my island in the sun…”
I need a nap.
We hope you will tune in next time,
