Today was overall a pretty great day. (I wonder if that’s because I went to yoga the previous day. If that is the case I should start doing yoga more often lol). The morning started with the end of the Solidworks course and I honestly can say I really enjoyed it. Alex was a wonderful teacher and was really helpful when we had issues. My group after went to an early lunch so we could spend two hours in the lab getting stuff done. We then had the start of the Maya course which sadly wasn’t really working. I had really been looking forward to the stuff we would cover in Maya since it seems like a software related to 3D animation. It was frustrating to not have it work how it was supposed to. Kate and Holly did a great job going through the slides and trying to get everyone involved to figure out why so many of us had issues. I also got a little bit of time to draw while I was waiting for the scans to be done and I keep forgetting how much I enjoy drawing in my spare time.(Image below) I also later on had a call with my mentor through a program with Intel employees called MentorNet and we had a great phone call. It was nice to just sit with someone (who is also a certified life coach) and just reflect on experiences and talk it out with someone. Shes always super optimistic and helping me feel more confident 🙂

Today has already been off to a great start. We had free time this morning (YAY) and I decided to try the Maya stuff and IT WORKS! (So happy!) I finally got to experience Maya for what it really is and I was really happy that I felt I was starting to pick it up like I was with Solidworks and not saying I’m an expert but I feel like even though it may be tedious its something I enjoy. It honestly makes me really happy to find something I really like doing and hopefully with more practice and learning skills I could eventually add this skill to my skillset. The presenter today for our luncheon lecture was Rick Stone and the first thing I want to say is Wow! He had such great energy, really great public speaking skills (My inner Toastmaster is coming out saying that lol), and gosh he has had a full life already with all of the different experiences he has had. It was great listening to his experiences and his research experiment on welding skills with 50%VR learning and regular learning. The rest of today is just going to the lab to scan some more and then we have a volleyball outing at freddy but its more so an outdoor activities day lol. I’m excited.
