So we have been continuing in Unity today and I feel like it is not what I had expected. For one I didn’t think that the coding would look this different from C++. The syntax is not very intuitive to me the only commonalities seems to be just the functions/classes. I’m finding myself having to look up a lot of syntax online and still being super lost as there are so many options to look for. After I get over my embarrassment of asking for help I finally just ask Jack or Mindy to help me and then they make it so easy. I feel like Unity is a much more complicated version of Alice (see image below). I had worked in this program back in high school building scenes and putting characters in the world to move around and stuff. Besides that though we finally are getting into the deeper dives (YAY!) I really like the 3D printing one so far but I’m excited to see what they will tell us about it around 2:00 when going over the other ones. I have really enjoyed the 3D modeling so far and had back in high school a tech teacher who loved 3D printers but I never really learned how to use them. I feel like this is my time to learn more about it and take that knowledge with me to school. I can’t express how much I like this program because of its interdisciplinary courses and the material we learn. I finally get to see what else there is out there because at school all of my peers are also computer engineering and computer science majors and I feel like it is all very limited on what we can learn and explore. Overall I’m excited but hope at some point I can work on my UX/UI design skills.
