The objective of the Hurricane Katrina Game is to encourage a higher level of thinking and decision-making by considering one of the most disastrous and devastating events in U.S. history. The Game was created in 2006. The Katrina disaster was a prime example of a complex, multifaceted problem with many different kinds of stakeholders. These are the kinds problems that today’s future leaders must learn to resolve.  

In this game, participants:

– Take on the role of a New Orleans stakeholders
– Negotiate for their characters’ interests
– Learn to compromise, come to consensus, and    defend decisions
