3D Printers and IRB
Where to start? So much has happened. I haven’t blogged in a minute. Sometimes it feels when things get really busy, the small tasks get dropped lol.
I’ve been playing God Of War through the ISU gym pass in the gaming area. Yesterday, i want to load my save, and it said there was a steam cloud error. Well after googling and trying to fix it, I gave up and just opened the game despite the warnings. It had deleted my recent saves and I lost 2 hours of game progress! >>:((( I give up.
We finally submitted our IRB!! Whoooo! It feels much better to have that part done, because that is really the biggest limiting factor for research with human subjects testing. Now we are working on our methodology and what plan we have for how we will measure “improvement”.
I am having a blast with the Deeper Dive (its like a mini grad school course, they let us pick one of three options). All of us have gotten a head start with figuring out what we want to do and why it matters. We started off learning the basics and 3D printing some models off the internet. I printed a wolf totem out of TPU (it is a squishier material). Before this training, I didn’t even know that material was a thing! I think most people think of 3D printing as solid hard plastic, but there are many different polymers used. It’s funny to watch people’s faces when I hand them the wolf and I tell them to squish it. At first they think I’m kidding. Then they try it, and their faces just light up.

I think Squashed Wolf could be a good name for an indie band.
