HCI – Bad Designs
The first thing that comes to mind is paper straws. In no way am I saying use plastic straws. I just believe the no straw alternative is best and papers straws just simply do not hold up.
Second I had to think harder about the little things that grind my gears. This one came down to two different terrible designs but ultimately chose the most unrealistic feature. The oven and stove top in our dorm room needs a 6 digit code to use and the keypad to use it is so small that it takes me 5+ tries from clicking the wrong number.
I also despise paper straws, but I often forget to bring my stainless steel straw. More often than not had to subscribe to plastic straws as I like sipping my drink through the straw. Potential solution: I know that in some countries, when people buy bottled drinks, they can return them at a machine and get refunded for a small fee. I am wondering if the same could be implemented with straws, so that when customers buy drinks, they will come with a metallic straw, and they can return it at the store or a machine for a small fee.
How about edible straws? I like some of them.
I didn’t know these were a thing so I looked them up.
Google:
” Edible alternatives to drinking straws:
1. Hot Dog
2. Churro
3. Carrot
4. Twizzlers ”
I really hope these aren’t what you’re talking about!
