Staying on Top of Things (or failing to) — 3 Comments

  1. I can relate. I often have the dilemma of either practicing more what we learned in one class or focusing our research. Sometimes I’ll just prioritize our research, but I wouldn’t have enough time to assimilate certain things we were taught. I figured out I need a 5min walk outside with music in my ears, that helps me to stay energized and focused. When I’m working, I also need music for the same reason.

  2. I can relate to this. This is me every semester, I always tell my friends that 24 hrs a day is no longer enough for me. The only way I can overcome the feeling of getting things done and also making sure it is done on time is to have a to-do list, and I make a priority list of things that need immediate attention and things I have more time to work on. I block time off on my calendar and focus on specific items from my to-do list. It has always helped me get things done, and not feel like I have slacked off on a certain to-do item.

I am a very detail-oriented person, and I hate half-done things, which is also not a good combination when I have a lot on my plate :/. To make sure I do not burn out, my stress-relieving activity is cooking.

    • The to-do list is also my go-to. But sometimes a task takes me longer than expected because I think it’s not done well and I need to do more on it. Sometimes, I don’t know how to solve this issue of always not being satisfied enough.
