A big thank you to Debra Kumar for coming and speaking with us last week. I thought it was super cool to hear about her experience at Google and how the culture shifted into something she no longer believed in, and she left. I honestly can’t believe that it’s week 7 already. It feels weird to think that in four weeks, I’ll be leaving for Boise and won’t wake up to see the familiar faces of my fellow interns in the morning. Holly Oberbroeckling was also an intern here at Iowa State and talked about a grieving period after the program ended. I’m definitely not looking forward to that, but so far, this experience has been unforgettable. Right now, I don’t have time to grieve because I have presentations to focus on. Friday, we leave to present our projects to fellow REU students over at the University of Iowa. I’m super excited to see what they have been working on over there, but it also means our group has to work on presentation material instead of the actual project. It feels good to finally be hitting milestones and checking off boxes on the to-do list. Just have to survive one day at a time.
