Forks in the Road, Classes, Unity
One of the coolest parts about the intern experience has been the luncheon lectures we have each week. Elliot did the first lecture, and we learned all about his experience in research and how he has gotten to where he is today. Next up Jack Miller shared with us all of the cool VR/AR applications that they are currently working on at Mayo Clinic. It was super interesting to learn about all the issues that I had never even thought of, like a $100,000 TV that can’t even move around. Most recently we got to hear from Jim Oliver about his journey through both academia and industry. As someone who is still unsure which one to choose it was reassuring knowing that he was able to bounce between both. A big thanks to everyone who has given a talk, they have been packed with knowledge and advice.
Our classes have finally come to an end which means it is time to start our deeper dives. I choose Unity along with Jakob and Jacky. Currently, we are planning on making a VR game to train consumers on basic roadside maintenance such as changing a tire, jumping a car, and possibly changing a battery. We don’t have much time for development but I’m super excited to start working on this project.
Excited to see your project! I would definitely benefit from the VR game in teaching me how to change a tire and a battery.
