On Friday, we had the opportunity to visit the University of Iowa campus and swap presentation with the REU group there. It was interesting to see how they faced similar research challenges, despite all their projects being based in the medical field. All of the presentations were very interesting, but hard to follow at times since I know very little about medical research. A good lesson about creating a presentation that even someone outside of your field can understand. All three of our groups nailed our presentation, and it was good to remember that public speaking isn’t that much of a challenge. The preparation we did also heavily impacted our success. It was also a good opportunity to network and talk about some of the differences between our programs. I learned a ton and definitely enjoyed the visit. Well, I have audio to record, a paper to write, and a poster to create, so I’d better get back to it.
