Our team had another soundscape talk with Dr. Barakat, one of our faculty mentors. It\u2019s interesting how acoustics and soundscape are somewhat related to history and sociology. Sound is unique to a community based on their routine and history; it is called soundmark. Also, as you hear a sound, you try to identify it to something you\u2019re used to. For example, Dr. Barakat played a sound and asked us to identify it, Aidan and Jacky said AC, I said something producing air (I was thinking about a fan), but Dr. Barakat said it was a power plant. She easily recognized it because it was her road when she was going to school in Bristol. However, I\u2019m thinking if it can\u2019t be both? Based on soundmark, it can be both just based on what our auditory senses are used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The material of an object also defines the pitch it generates. So, a table made with wood, and the same table but with plastic produce different sounds.
