Wow, I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s almost over. This has been such an incredible experience and I\u2019m just going to try and take full advantage of it for this final week. This summer has truly gone by so fast and I\u2019m excited to see the product of everyone\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right now, we\u2019ve been finishing up our poster and I\u2019ve been putting together the code for collecting our data streams. It feels like everything really is coming together! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had our final ethics talk with Eliot yesterday too. These talks have really made me think about the way I see ethics and question the decisions id make in certain real life situations. It\u2019s interesting how extra information can make you rethink your own morals, and the way Eliot pushed us to reconsider our choices. It made me realize that no story is truly simple, and there are so many layers to consider when determining if something is \u201cethical\u201d. I\u2019m looking forward to the ethics of algorithms course I\u2019m taking in the fall, as I\u2019m hoping it\u2019ll act as a continuation of this REU course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, I had my one on one talk with David about the program and it was only then where I truly realized how special this program is. The amazing speakers we\u2019ve had, the people I\u2019ve gotten to know and meet, the classes we\u2019ve had, the projects we\u2019ve poured ourselves into, it\u2019s a lot to gain from one summer. I truly hope to continue building the relationships I\u2019ve built here and continue applying the skills I\u2019ve acquired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
