Program mentors!
We are thrilled to welcome Heliya and Yvonne as our outstanding graduate student mentors for this summer’s SPIRE-EIT Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program! 🎉
👥 Two Sets of Mentors: To address a common question, let’s break down the mentorship structure within the REU program. There are two distinct sets of mentors:
- REU Program Mentors (Cross-Mentors):
- These mentors play a pivotal role in the overall program experience.
- They provide leadership and support in the day-to-day lives of all participants.
- Expect them to guide you through various aspects of the REU journey, including team bonding, extracurricular activities, and navigating the program.
- Their expertise extends beyond research projects—they’re here to ensure your holistic well-being during the program.
- Research Project Mentors:
- These mentors are graduate students working directly with faculty members.
- Their focus is on your research project.
- You’ll collaborate closely with them and the faculty, diving into the intricacies of your specific research area.
- From experimental design to data analysis, they’ll be your go-to resource for project-related queries.
🔍 What to Expect:
- Cross-Mentors: Think of them as your program guides, helping you acclimate to the REU environment.
- Research Project Mentors: They’re your research partners, guiding you through the exciting journey of scientific exploration.
🌐 Why Both Sets Matter:
- Balance: The cross-mentors ensure a smooth program experience, while the research project mentors provide specialized guidance.
- Comprehensive Support: Together, they create a supportive ecosystem where you can thrive academically and personally.
Let’s Make This Summer Memorable! 🌞
Feel free to reach out to Heliya and Yvonne—they’re here to make your REU journey exceptional! 🚀
